The Four Seasons: Music, Nature & Early Learning in the Sierra Nevada

The Four Seasons is a four-volume, early-childhood song cycle (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) inspired by the Sierra Nevadas. Written by acclaimed composer Majel Connery (creator of The Rivers Are Our Brothers), the project bridges nature-based education with the visual and performing arts and deepens children’s social-emotional connection to the earth. Each volume includes three short, teacher-friendly songs (12 total), designed for circle time, transitions, and movement. A companion Four Seasons Musical Field Journal—curated for Preschool, TK, and Kindergarten—features simple activities, engaging illustrations, and journaling pages that spark observation, drawing, emergent writing, and imagination.
