The Four Seasons – A Musical Journey for Listeners of all ages
with composer Majel Connery
Join us for a magical, interactive concert experience designed especially for young children and their families.
Collaboration between
Arts for the Schools & Musica Sierra
The Four Seasons is a four-volume early-childhood song cycle (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) inspired by the landscapes, weather, and wildlife of the Sierra Nevadas. Written by acclaimed composer Majel Connery—creator of the celebrated eco-music work The Rivers Are Our Brothers—this joyful program bridges nature-based education with the visual and performing arts, nurturing curiosity, creativity, and social-emotional connection to the natural world.
During the performance, Majel will also share special excerpts from The Rivers Are Our Brothers, her acclaimed song cycle exploring our watershed and the deep relationships between water, land, and community.
Each season features three short, playful, teacher- and child-friendly songs (12 total), perfect for movement, listening, and imaginative participation. The music is designed to meet young learners where they are—inviting them to sing, move, notice, and wonder.
Every ticket includes a Seasons: A Musical Field Journal, beautifully illustrated by Em Young, with simple activities and journaling pages that encourage observation, drawing, early writing, and creative expression—so the experience can continue at home and in the classroom.
