Sierra Eventide

Sierra Eventide is a monthly gathering at the newly restored Old Schoolhouse in Loyalton, CA (a 45 minute drive from both Reno and Truckee) in the beautiful Sierra Valley. Each gathering follows the turning of the year, honoring both the festive holidays we know and the natural seasons. Enjoy the candlelit room as you listen (and sing along if you'd like!) to sacred songs, hear a few spoken words, and enjoy the company of your fellow travelers.

Though spiritual in tone, this is a contemplative gathering, not a church service.

UPCOMING Sierra Eventide

Samhain: Where the harvest meets the dark

WHEN: Saturday, November 7, 6:00 – 7:30 PM
WHERE: The Old Schoolhouse, 105 Beckwith St., Loyalton, CA 96118. Behind the red probation offices and public hall.
ALL ARE WELCOME: Come as you are, whatever you believe (or don’t).

$20 suggested donation

The days are short now, which is a good reason to slow down, light some candles, and savor the season.

Samhain (SOW-in) is the old Celtic season when the herds came down from summer pasture, the harvest was counted, and neighbors gathered close against the dark. The veil between this world and the next was said to grow thin. Today, it holds both Halloween and Thanksgiving: remembrance of the dead and gratitude for the life we have.

Come make the most of the long shadows. We’ll share sacred songs, a few spoken words, and a lot of quiet, honoring the ones who lit our way and enjoying the company of those still here.
